Nathan Eklund - Jazz Assistant


Nathan Eklund (www.nathaneklund.com) began his professional musical training at Central Washington University, where he studied classical trumpet performance for two years. Since moving to the New York City area in 1998, Nathan has attained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University and New Jersey City University, respectively, while studying with NYC area professionals Dave Rogers, Scott Wendholt, Joe Magnarelli, Bud Burridge, Rich DeRosa, John Mosca, Paul Meyers, and Andy Eulau.

Nathan has been a private trumpet instructor since early 2001, teaching throughout Northern New Jersey, and is currently an adjunct faculty member at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, NJ. Nathan has taught at William Paterson University's summer jazz camp since 2006, and has been a clinician and guest artist at high schools nationwide.
 
Professionally, Nathan currently leads two jazz groups: the Nathan Eklund Group and Nathan Eklund/Tim Horner Quartet. He performs with the Bud Maltin Orchestra, playing for receptions and events in and around New York City, and subs on Broadway's The Little Mermaid. Nathan has released two albums as a leader (The View From Afar-2006 and The Crooked Line-2007) and has recorded on many more as a sideman, including Spyro Gyra's 2006 Grammy nominated album "Wrapped In A Dream."
